SIlver Cicada Wing Earrings from Sudlow.
Spring Breeze card from ChristineCarol.Giving new life to old plates, buttons, glass, and anything else in my way.
Yeah! I have my camera phone back!! Everyone said that you can't get a dramatic haircut while pregnant because you are hormonal and will hate it, I like my new mommy doo. Also pictured; my first daffodils of spring, Jason giving me the finger while on a conference call as the dog sunbaths in the background, and Bella the Roo making a grand entrance onto the side porch. There...I'm sharing. =)
Because everything looks better in silver! Sleeves and lids for condiments cast in silver by Theo Fennell.
I thought LifeGem was weird...from Nadine Jarvis, "pencils made from the carbon of human remains. 240 pencils can be made from an average body of ash - a lifetime supply of pencils for those left behind." Once you get over the weird factor, it is kinda a romantic idea...Yikes.
Speaking of Nadine Jarivs, I think she helped me figure out what I want done with my ashes. This ceramic urn has a lifespan of 1-3 years. The thread gradually degrades causing the urn to drop, and smash as it hits the ground. I would definitely need a really tacky, 60's floral pattern ceramic urn. My friends and family can make necklaces out of the pieces. Ohh, genius! (sorry, a little morbid...)
What a great shirt from Veer! I want to make one that says "I break plates all day."
Gold and Blue Journal from freshink.
Yellow Bird Tote from Denisetjarks.
Maple Seed Helicopter Necklace from Honeybee.
I beaded for hours yesterday, I don't even remember doing it. Here are only a few of the finished products. Did I ever tell you that I hate beading? Yeah, I do. Two are up on Etsy.
I just discovered Swedish designer Malin Lundmark via Pan-dan. Her website features some really interesting lamps, like the teacup and jewelry lamp above. Also shown above is a Jewelry Shelf. a wall mounted shelf with a built in cut out for your favorite necklace.

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, Jason somehow convinced me that it was "take your girlfriend to work day." It was actually kind of fun; he fed me, I learned how to put ends on phone cords, I witnessed the secret life of warehouses, and collected some random bits of metal for a found object project.

An article featuring Sarah Graham discusses her journey from stock market analyst to full time jeweler. Above is a piece from her Confluence Series which was was inspired by the cup like form molten metal takes when it is dropped into cold water.
Brooklyn based artist Miwa Koziumi's PET project features amazingly life-like sea creatures made with recycled plastic beverage containers. Using only an alcohol lamp, smoldering iron, and a pocket lighter, these discarded containers are transformed into jellyfish.

Eat your heart out Lorena Siminoich, there is a new kids collage artist in town! Just kidding, mine is nowhere near as cool as hers, but it also did not cost $140. It will look much better when it is dry and behind glass...I hope.
I was feeling bad about the last post, so hopefully this card from Uccello Curioso will make up for it. I am not sure if it is possible to love a person as much as bacon and eggs, but it is a nice sentiment.
The Bitterweet Collection by Paperstories, contains such gems as "Suck it," "Sometimes I just hate you," "Thanks for nothing," "You just suck the life out of me" and "What did I ever see in you?" Now, everyone can think of at least one use for these cards. I personally have a "Sometimes I just hate you" on retainer, you never know...

This annual show sponsored by the Richmond Craft Mafia will take place April 22, 2007 from 10-4 at the Marquee, a beautifully restored 1939 Art Deco building. I've got some plate smashing to do!
There's a new blog in town to add to your daily browsing habit. Jewelry. Metals. Objects. is run by Megan Auman as a component of a project designed to introduce jewelers and metalsmiths to web 2.0 technologies (blogs, Etsy, Flickr, etc.) Learn more about the project at wikispace. Above is work by Abigail Percy , one of the first artists featured in this new blog. Abigail is a great example of an artist that employees all aspects of web 2.0 to get her name out there and work sold.
Check out this great use of ordinary school construction paper by Jen Stark. I love when people make such amazing things out of such unpretentious materials.

I am in love with the HULGER P*PHONE, only because I hate the invisible ear pieces people are using that make me mistakenly think that someone is talking to me in the grocery store when they are actually talking to a friend on their cell. Available in White, Black, Pink and Red so that one may match their headset to their outfit?
Ok, one more, you don't want to do any work anyway. (Why do you think I am doing this, you think it is fun breaking plates all day?)
You aren't doing any work today...why not check out my new addiction, Toothpaste for Dinner, where you can peruse 1720 archived comics which are updated daily.

As I attempt to spare everyone from baby stuff, I just had to share these books with the world. The Baby, Be Use series by Lisa Brown, teaches baby how to do practical things like banking, fixing cars, making Mimosas and omelette's.
