Looks like I have some competition in the "used ceramics from Goodwill" department, but I will gladly share my plate stash with this cool artist from Brooklyn! Sarah Cihat reglazes and refires old ugly Goodwill castoffs to make new modern designs like those pictured above. Maybe we should join forces...I can break the plates she reglazes to make jewelry!

Baby's first day at work

Maternity leave is defiantly over, and I am very happy about that! I have been getting in the studio to make a batch a week for the past 2 weeks. It is hard to find time to solder, but I can do a lot of prep during the week in hopes that I can score 3 hours of non-mommy time to solder. This week I am working on rings and cuff links. Since Nolan has has a bit more awake time where he is not eating, I decided to bring him down to watch! (Don't worry, I kept him safe from flying plate shards!) It didn't last too long, but it was fun while it did. Off to tape my pieces!

Diana Fayt Calendar!

Just in time for the holidays - Diana Fayt's new calendar! A twelve page hand illustrated, limited edition calendar, 9" x 6.5" in size, offset printed on a lovely fine ribbed Japanese paper which has the look and feel of fabric. Based on a Japanese design the calendar's pages are individual leaves, which can be used later as a framed print or as a card.

I was accepted for CCCM's Holiday Heap show on December 1, 2007, running from 10am-5pm @ 2640 Saint Paul Street in Baltimore, MD. Now I better get crackin'! No more maternity leave for me!

I'm so sorry that I am a blogging slacker. This little guy is so much work that the Internet is a privilege, and blogging is a down right luxury. I barely have time for his blog, but some people might kick my butt if I neglected that one (and those people know where I live!)

I have been trying to break plates, but his napping is so erratic, I can't count on it for more then maybe an hour if I am lucky. I have to make more work ASAP to get ready for the holidays and hopefully a show or two, but am not so sure how just yet. Hopefully he will soon not have to eat every hour and I can sneak away a little more.

I had my photo shoot for Smart Woman Magazine last week! It was very fun (and a little corny.) They sent a stylist which was really cool, I got to look cute for a day! Hopefully I don't look too much like the sleepless new mother that I am in the photo they choose. The issue will be out in November.

I did get to finish the wedding plate project, here is a photo of the finished pieces. I loved doing this job, and hope to find more like it!

I wish I could chat longer, but alas, motherhood is calling.
