Toot-Toot!

I was not able to get to my computer until late today, but when I did it was chock full of fun emails including the following new mentions of my work. (Toot toot goes my own horn...)
Sara Dick from Washington City Paper wrote a wonderfully glowing review of Pile of Craft. The entry not only features this especially round photo of my face, but a video interview of Rachael Bone of Red Prairie Press about the show and the Mafia. Part of the video shows a walk through of the show, I am in room two, but it is hard to see the booth with all the customers. (toot toot)There is a nice shot of my onesies though! Thanks Sara!

It was really exciting to find out that my button was featured on the Apartment Therapy-Nursery blog - one of my new favorites!

I received a really nice email from the folks at BMoreCool - the web's guide to cool Baltimore, letting me know that I am featured on their website. Check out the Webbies page
which also features links to Imogene and the Charm City Craft Mafia!

New shirts!

Here is a poorly photographed image of some new shirts I am working on. There are many things I miss now that I am knocked up; wine, beer, sushi, tuna, seeing my feet and sleeping on my back to name a few. Look for them on MuthaCrafter!

Drool.icio.us!

I can't believe I missed this one, but my onesie and handsome model where on the Babble blog Drool.icio.us on Sunday! Pretty cool! Please pass on any others I missed, always fun to see!

Pile of Craft!

I think I have to say that Pile of Craft has been my favorite show of the year! Not only did I sell lots of work, but the atmosphere was so fun and welcoming, it really lacked the over pretentious feeling of some recent shows. We had every kind of customer, from roller derby girls to soccer moms, which was great! A BIG thanks to the Charm City Craft Mafia, you would never know that this was their first show, I am looking forward to many more. Also, a big thanks to my helper, Whitney, I am sure she will be an exhibitor to look for soon! And thanks to Jason for coming and being my cheerleader, it reminds me why I am keeping your baby =)

PS-I stole most of these images from Fort Cloudy, I hope you don't mind =) For more photos check out the Flickr site.

Envirosax

Now don't get me wrong, I am not trying to pose as an environmentalist here. I have owned an SUV and my recyling practices are suspect, BUT I did buy these Envirosax from Delight. I have always questioned the use of plastic grocery bags, but I could not deny the convience of the handles. Did you knw that 1 million plastic bags are used and discarded worldwide every minute of the day? Crazy! Why do that when you can look cute too with Envirosax?? The bags come in really cool patterns and all 5 fit in a little pouch that you can keep in your glove box. They are made of lightweight, waterproof windbreaker material and holds about twice the amount of groceries as thier plastic counterparts. Can't wait to go shoping now!

More Scree Print Fun!

Here are some things I was working on today. I am giving the shirt to Jason for Father's day, and am posting one on Mutha Crafter as well. This screen printing thing is pretty darn fun! My hands needed a little break from breaking plates, so this is the perfect distraction.

Funky Found!

Less then 24 hours after opening MuthaCrafter, It has already been found by Funky Finds!

I'm afraid Jason was feeling left out of the goofy shirt festivities.

Yeah!

I finally made the front page of Etsy! What a nice way to start the week!

Screen Print Fun!

My first shirt!
The Photo EZ Stencil for the white undercoat.
I tested my new Photo EZ screen printing kit today, and I must say, it is great!!! There are no chemicals involved, which is great for folks like me who can't be around them, and within 15 minutes I had a detailed stencil to print from! My ink application is obviously the problem with my final shirt, but it is not awful! I'm sure with some practice I can make some decent shirts. My first "real" batch made by Spaghetti Kiss should be ready any day, I am sure they will look much better then mine and will be available at Pile of Craft!

Your Ugly Mailbox

Thanks to boingboing for introducing me to Your Ugly Mailbox a blog dedicated to the tacky mailboxes of the world. We saw plenty of these manatee mailboxes in Florida, many painted pink. I could not help but wish I had one here in B-more, think of the holiday decorating opportunities!

Despair Illustrated

My sister just sent me this great new shirt from Despair Inc. This shirt, titled "Obsolete," is the first in a series called Despair Illustrated, in which T-shirts display images that "speak the most desperate of truths far more poignantly than any poetic turn of phrase." Poor dog.

Good Luck Annie!

Annie of Imogene has finally said goodbye to the struggles of her 9 to 5 office job to jump into the stressful and rewarding world of a full time crafter! Keep and eye on her website and blog to see wonderful new work from her. I am sure, if these adorable little trees are any indication, she will make wonderful work and never look back at office life again. Good Luck Annie!

Holy S#@*!

Sorry, I just had a "Holy S#@*! I'm Pregnant! moment." My belly is as big as the vase, geez.

Project Runway Update

For those of you who have been feeling the pangs of want for Project Runway Season 4, I just did some research and learned that they are holding it until October (when Top Chef normally begins.) Tim Gunn will be returning. Sorry for the reality show geekery, but I know I am not the only one...

Lovegrove and Repucci

The greatest new plate ever from Lovegrove & Repucci. Do you think it would be suspect if plates ended up on my baby registry??

Re-Craft

Thanks to Recycle Remake Redesign Recraft Reuse Recreate Reclaim Reduce (or Re-Craft) for featuring my work!
Julianna Holowka is the creative genious behind Mean Cards. This series of cards says everythng we want to say, but just cant. Some of my favorites: Your Degree is Useless, Pregnant or Fat?, Everything Dies, That Headset Looks Crazy, Quit Almost Touching Me...I could go on and on. Check her out and buy her cards!

Katryna Carter

Another artist that I had the pleasure of meeting at Art Star was Katryna Carter. She has a background in architecture and apprenticed with traditional metalsmiths and beadmakers in Ghana, West Africa. She uses a lot of recycled materials such as glass bottles, window louvers, metal pipes, car parts and silver scraps to make her beads. Really nice stuff. She will be participating in ArtScape in Baltimore this summer, check her out!

Dyson

In case you were not aware, Dyson = Love.

Art Star Philly Recap

Phew. I think my belly is getting too big for a summer outdoor show! Saturday was hot and humid, which made for sluggish shoppers. The show had so many vendors spread out over a pretty large area so it was difficult for shoppers to see every booth. My booth did OK, but I left early because of the rain Sunday. Sorry to anyone who came after I left Sunday, send me a note if you missed me, and I can show you what is left. There were so many great vendors, I wish I got to see more, below are some highlights. I bought this adorable screen print from my neighbor Jane of Foxy & Winston. In addition to great art she makes cards and baby clothes as well. I have not decided if "Junior" will get this gem in his room, or if I will keep it for myself yet.
My only other purchase was a paper airplane baby kimono like this one from Mogo.

Some other highlights....

I finally met Taryn of MyMy. She will be opening a new store in PA, so check her blog to find out details. Should be lots of fun!
Above is some really amazing stained glass work by Marina Borker. It is hard to tell how cool these are in a photo, but believe it or not, they are only 2 dimensional!
More cool stained glass from Mimi Lipson. Love her use of electric polls!

There is more, but I have to hunt down postcards.
THANKS MY SISTER!
