One of the coolest gifts that I have ever received was a little jar of random vintage goodness from my former boss, Amy. It was filled with crazy buttons, findings and other odd stuff. This was probably 2 years ago, but I consulted this jar just last week when I was stuck on a project. A few days later, through the magic of the Internet, I found Amy and her new Etsy shop, Apvintage! She makes jewelry out of this random vintage goodness, and I just had to share.

Sorry I have been M.I.A. - Life is a little crazy in Broken Plate land. I am busily filling some wholesale orders since Crafty Bastards cleaned me out a bit! Bastards was awesome despite the random rain showers. Shoppers were prepared with umbrellas and were not going to let a little rain hold them back. It was hardcore. The rain won't let up enough for me to take a good photo of my new ring, but I had to get it up here anyway, even if it meant posting a snapshot. My supplier of the oval scalloped ring has run out so after hunting around, I think I have found a suitable replacement. What do you think?

For some reason, I could not seem to break plates this weekend. You would think that I would be feverishly preparing for Crafty Bastards, but I am feeling pretty calm and prepared. Instead, I was inspired by Yummy and Company to design a tattoo for some promos. I also created these stickers and earring cards inspired by paintings by Susan Homer. They probably won't arrive in time, but at least I felt kinda productive.

I am having a good day! Well, at least The Broken Plate Pendant Co. is. When I checked my email this morning I was excited to find an email from a fabulous customer of mine telling me that Rachael Ray wore my necklace on 30 Minute Meals this morning! It will re-air on Wednesday, I will be sure to get a screen shot for you. Next, I got an email from Dorset Hill Beads to tell me that I am on the front page of Etsy today! Awesome. Then an email from Amy Quarry told me that I was on her blog, Thanks! To top it all off, the fabulously detail-oriented Jen told me that I was in Baltimore Magazine! I would have never noticed, Thanks! (The model is wearing my ring.) I am so glad I have people around to tell me when good things happen to me, I would never notice! =)

The Coloring Nook

When I am in a REALLY bad mood, it's not breaking plates that I want to do. (That is too much like work now.) What I really want to do is build a fort, hide and color. Jason and I made big plans this morning to build a secret tree fort that housed beer, pasta and coloring books called the Coloring Nook (instead of coloring book, get it?) as a bunker for when we need to escape. Best of Baltimore!

The Best of Baltimore party was pretty fun despite the fact that we had to walk through a torrential down pour of rain, ruining my straight hair, to get to the stadium. We got to sample all sorts of food from local restaurants and all kinds of drinks (bad idea) all while doing some good people watching. We met Jess from Baltimore Magazine who told us how cute she thought Nolan's "Strong-man" video was, hung out with some of the crafty ladies (and gents) of BEST, and if that wasn't cool enough, I scored 3 tubes of lip gloss from the Cover Girl booth which was really fortunate because I forgot my chap stick was was jonesing for some lip moisture. After we left we stopped by Crush, the new restaurant in Belevedere Square where we had an amazing BLT made with homemade mozzarella cheese, yum. Thanks my sister for hanging with a Nolan.

I did a little studio clean up this week and I must say that my stack of unbroken plates in impressive! (not to mention the buckets of already broken ones, I have a problem) Anyway, the contest is to guess how many unbroken plates I have squirreled away in the basement. Spirits of the Abandoned

Back in May, I told you about Spirits of the Abandoned, a thesis project by Sue Tatterson in which she eplores abandoned buildings in Maryland and shares her findings through a web site and a coffee table book. The final part of this project culminates in an exhibition of her work at the UB Student Center Gallery, 21 W. mount Royal Ave, 5th Floor, Baltimore MD 21201. The opening reception of this exhibit is Thursday June 26th from 6-8pm. Light refreshments will be served. Go check it out!!

I Love Pile of Craft! This show was more mellow then shows past, but business was still great! I got some prime real estate with the benefit of a steady breeze to keep me cool. Tya was an awesome helper and not only documented the day with her amazing photos, but took the pen away from me to take care of writing up orders. (if you saw my handwriting, you would understand.) Thanks Tya!!!A highlight of any show is when Nolan comes to visit!

I can not do a craft show without leaving with soap from Biggs and Featherbelle. The post-show shower is the reward I look forward to all day!

I met Stacey of 1 Boy 1 Girl at Handmade Arcade in 2006. At the time had no purpose for her adorable children's shirts, but filed them away in the "if I have kids someday file." Finally, I had a reason to buy one of her shirts for Mr. Nolan and can't wait till it fits!
